Alternative rock and pop act Jude Johnson brings you bittersweet, personal and humorous tales of love, loss and the challenges of a life lived through music.

Bio

Jude Johnson’s  music is influenced by British indie rock, while his appreciation of analog synths also brings an electronic feel to some  of his tracks. His lyrical tales and emotive vocal have the introspection of artists like Sam Fender and Badly Drawn Boy, and his use of piano and atypical song structures in some of his more in-depth stories, gives a nod to the greats like Elton John, Bowie and The Beatles. Jude was born in Lewisham, London but grew up in the North West of England. He began composing music on piano at the age of 8. His first band, The Besiders, were a regular fixture in Chester and Liverpool venues. He studied at Guildhall School of Music but dropped out to go on tour with well known punk band Wonk Unit, first as drummer, then as lead guitarist. Having since cut his teeth as a solo performer in St Ives, Cornwall, he launched his career as an artist with alt pop song ‘She says she loves me’, which got rave reviews in Earmilk and Plastic Mag. He is currently focused on finalising planned releases for 2026.

Plastic Magazine

“Brimming with instantly catchy melodic writing and wrapped in an upbeat charm, “She Says She Loves Me” offers a colourful arrangement capped by sensational vocal performance that hover above the shifting instrumentals as the song evolves with dazzling synth arpeggios. Building into a danceable jam with processed vocal textures in the finale, with his new single, Jude Johnson delivers a memorable and enjoyable sound packed full of twists and turns, resulting in an epic new single that’s impossible not to love.”

Earmilk

“Jude Johnson’s “She Says She Loves Me” shines with dancefloor vibes . . . a brilliant pop anthem, with an infectious electronic dance feel”

“We really enjoyed hosting Jude Johnson at Coast FM for a Live Lounge . . . Starting off with an energetic guitar song Little Games, we instantly knew we had a talent sat before us. We then got even more with well crafted original ballad Amazing Amy, amazing Jude is what we say. Could it get any better? Of course! This is a musician that can pull songs out of his hat better than a magician can produce a rabbit. We then get to hear a small part of his skills with Rock Stars Don't Make TikTok's, a thought provoking number that deals with social media. His final number was a Latin inspired bossa nova style Bossa Baby, again showing how this young man can accept and play genres. I am positive this musician will go places. He knows what he wants and how to go about it . . . one to watch"” - Ian Semple, Coast FM
“Probably the best act of the day out of the 15 I caught [at Manchester End of Year Fest 2024]” - Neil Maley, Music Promoter

"What sets Jude apart is his ability to create a sound that feels both intimate and expansive—drawing listeners in with heartfelt storytelling while layering intricate instrumental arrangements. Whether through delicate acoustic moments or more dynamic, synth-infused tracks, his work reflects a genuine passion for musical exploration.

His performance further highlighted his artistry, offering the audience an authentic and engaging experience that captured the emotional depth of his songs. His evolving sound promises exciting developments ahead and I will have no hesitation in booking him again in 2026.  For fans of alternative new music who appreciate thoughtful songwriting and skilled musicianship, Jude Johnson is an artist well worth discovering. Catch him live when you can!" - Murray Graham Urban Roots Events
